Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan has had a successful rerun on Doordarshan. It was appreciated by the millennials and the older generation got to see the '80s entertainment during the national lockdown. The show was first aired in the year 1987. Ramayan is one of the most popular Indian epic mythological television series of the late ’80s. It was said that streets used to be deserted as people would be glued to the small screen to watch the stellar cast of the epic show which featured Arun Govil (Ram), Sunil Lahri (Lakshman), Dipika Chikhlia (Sita) in lead roles. Produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar, the show used to create a curfew-like situation on the streets when it was aired on DD National between 9 am and 10 am every day.
